We believe everyone is responsible for protecting the environment. We are striving to continuously improve our environmental performance, and to continually research into new enviro friendly materials and finishes. At this moment we are in the process of working towards independent ecological certification of our products.

Sustainability has always been part of the Bernabeifreeman design process. Our philosophy is that a product is a story that develops over time. A story that becomes richer with use and more intimate, and with this thinking, our products are designed for many lifetimes of use.

We have always designed for the full lifecycle of the product. With this in mind, our products are designed for disassembly with no use of adhesives and all finishes used on our products do not impede with recycling. We are currently implementing a stewardship program for the lifecycle of all our products.

Materials:
All our aluminium lights, furniture and screens, weigh only one third the weight of steel, resulting in low energy usage during machining, transportation and handling. Aluminium is also corrosion resistant, able to withstand the effects of salt, water and most chemical and physical agents, which results in lower maintenance and extended product life.

Globes:
Our lights have been carefully designed with a fluorescent globe option in mind. We have sourced energy efficient 120mm round fluorescent globes that are attractive and work well with our designs.
